Our Promise

We promise to be completely committed to our members and their needs and to never forget the contributions that our leaders, our members and those who came before us have made to BC's communities.

Our focus is always on the well-being of our members. We support and offer benefits to members, keep them well informed, address their issues, and interests and build their capacity in practice and organizational leadership. At the same time, we raise public and political awareness about the value of social caring, build stronger connections with others in the sector, research and promote promising practices, negotiate for improved procurement and contracting practices with funders, and advocate for progressive social policies and programs. We do all this so that our members are better able to deliver high quality social services and supports within their communities.

We promise:

  • To offer our members a wide range of supports and services, including shared resources, opportunities for collaboration and mentorship, public policy advocacy,  and access to current information and provincial decision makers.
  • To actively and intentionally report out to our members so that they are well-informed and well-positioned to act and serve.
  • To continuously develop how we engage, inform and educate our members and to reach out to all members regardless of location, mandate or size.
  • To promote sector leadership through a wide range of professional development opportunities.
  • To provide members with products that support the sustainability and effectiveness of their organizations, including comprehensive health, liability and insurance packages.
  • To speak and act on behalf of our membership and our sector with passion, poise and professionalism.
  • To establish and sustain respectful relationships across the community social services sector and with funders and model new ways of working together on common interests.
  • To be a voice for progressive social policies and programs and to inform decision-makers and the public about opportunities to create healthy citizens and communities.
