Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship

A society's development increasingly depends upon its capacity for innovation. At CoreBC we are examining the processes of social innovation and entrepreneurship as well as the people, projects and programs that are creating an impact.

There is a great deal of discussion going on these days about the "social economy" and "social innovation" in the news, in government, and funding bodies and everywhere in between. What are the implications for the community social services sector and community agencies? The Federation has hosted presentations at each of its last five General Meetings on social economy topics and has had feature pieces in each monthly newsletter for the past year.

Jennifer Charlesworth sits on the BC Advisory Council of Social Entrepreneurship and we are a continuing supporter of the PLAN Institute Salon Series which brings people like Adam Kahane, Charles Leadbeater and Christian Bason to the Lower Mainland. Additionally, we have also prepared primers on social innovation and the social economy and a range of related concepts and terms that have been bouncing around. Click HERE for those and additional resources on social innovation and social entrepreneurship as it relates to the community social services sector. If you are a Federation member, check out the member's section for general meeting notes, presentations and the newsletter archives.
