We provide opportunities, tools and resources to help our members stay attuned to promising business, human resource and service delivery practices. We gather information about emerging policy issues, groundbreaking research and new ideas from around the world and use them to improve community social services in BC. Current initiatives include:
Residential Review and Redesign - The Federation, in partnership with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), is undertaking a comprehensive review of residential care for children and youth in BC. The scope of this review includes residential care services and supports provided in child welfare/protection, youth justice, child and youth with special needs and child and youth mental health service streams. The results and recommendations from Phase One of the project are being incorporated into MCFD's new strategic plan.
Applied Promising Practices (APP) - This initiative reflects the Federation’s growing interest in the development and distribution of promising practices that are informed by both practice knowledge and academic research. The intended short-term result of our APP projects is to enhance service delivery to children, youth and families in British Columbia. Our longer-term aim is to support the development of organizational cultures that value evidence-based service delivery and continuous quality improvement within human service organizations.
CoreBC: The Centre for Dialogue and Learning - The goal of CoreBC is to establish a hub of knowledge generation and distribution that will assist child, family and community service practice through engaging continual processes of research, inquiry, learning, application and reflection. CoreBC’s vision is to strengthen the community based social services sector through the development and distribution of practical research and learning about children, youth and families in British Columbia and the promotion of new and innovative practices.
