Social Policy - We connect the dots between ideas, research, policy and practice and we bring the perspective and voice of BC’s social sector to discussions with public policy decision makers. The Federation is currently in the middle of a comprehensive social policy research initiative analyzing public policies, social policy frameworks across the country, analytical approaches and alternate conceptual frameworks based on the social determinants of health and/or a life-course approach to policy development and analysis.
Social Innovation - The Federation has been examining the processes of social innovation and entrepreneurship as well as the people, projects and programs that are creating an impact. Our Executive Director sits on the BC Advisory Council of Social Entrepreneurship and we are a continuing supporter of the PLAN Institute Salon Series which brings people like Adam Kahane, Charles Leadbeater and Christian Bason to the Lower Mainland. The Federation has also hosted keynote presentations on social innovation at each of its last five General Meetings and has featured social innovation pieces in each monthly newsletter for the past year.
Visibility & Awareness - We strengthen the cohesiveness, and raise the profile, of the sector and through strategic partnerships with groups such as Board Voice and the BC Roundtable, the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres and BC Advisory Council of Social Entrepreneurship as well as through specific Federation projects such as VOICES: The Oral History of BC's Community Social Services.
